DESCRIPTION

Calypso Dive and Adventure Centre is  a 5 Star PADI Dive Resort and have a retail shop and dive centre at uShaka Marine World, which is quickly becoming the greatest tourist attraction in Durban .  

The Dive Centre has its own dive boat and offers daily dolphin viewing and scuba dives to a variety of great sites in and around the Durban area, ranging from 9m – 40m in depth.  These dives include a number of wrecks, a shallow cave system, outer anchorage strewn in broken off cargo ships anchors, a variety of stunning reefs and potholes.

Dives are charged at R180 per  dive and full gear rental is R160 per day or R45 per item required.  Shark dives ( usual sightings include Tiger / Hammerhead / Blacktip sharks) are charged at R500 from Durban or R900 from Aliwal Shoal.  No cage included of course! 

Calypso Dive and Adventure Centre have the only contract to dive in the Aquarium at uShaka Marine World.  The first of the 2 dives offered is the Lagoon Tank (3.5m) with over 1500 reef fish and a window at the far end, through which you can watch the sharks swim by.  Refreshers are done here (at the same cost as the dive)  at R250 including kit.

The Open Ocean Tank (4.2m) is filled with a variety of Rays and game fish, as well as their little Manta, Sue, who was rescued from the shark nets.  The price is R350 including kit.

To do a combo of both the Aquarium dives is R500 including kit.

Calypso Dive and Adventure Centre also offer the PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience at  R350 which is a ‘try dive’ experience in the Aquarium.  This includes a 45min Theory session, a dive in the Aquarium Lagoon Tank and use of full kit.  This dive counts towards your 1^st dive of PADI Open Water Course should you choose to continue with the course.

The Open Water dive courses cost R2250.00 all inclusive  (less R350 if DSD is already done with us) and all confined sessions are done in the Lagoon Tank of the Aquarium, to get a feel of the real experience before hitting the sea for your open water sessions!

Dives are also organised  to Aliwal Shoal through a charter company @ R210 per  dive and Protea Banks at R220 per dive.  Transport & Kit Rental are not included.

Dive trips to Sodwana Bay / Mozambique / Sardine Run also available and packages quoted on request.
