Sodwana Bay Lodge is situated on the Maputaland coast, about 400 km north of Durban. Sodwana Bay offers a range of activities from big game fishing, scuba diving, bird watching, or just lazing around on the beach.
Dolphin Lodge is located on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, in the tranquil village of Sodwana Bay, and is a place of incomparable natural beauty and abundance. Sodwana Bay is renowned for its scuba diving and bill fishing since the southernmost coral reefs in Africa occur here. Sodwana enjoys splendid sub-tropical weather, with warm water throughout the year, making Dolphin Lodge the perfect year-round getaway retreat. Dolphin Lodge offers you immaculate, spacious accommodation, a home at the coast; in a tranquil setting just 5km from the beach. Pristine wildernesses, absolute relaxation, and a personal family retreat are the order of the day at the lodge. Guests at Dolphin Lodge can be assured of a peaceful and comfortable stay in a very scenic and tranquil part of KwaZulu-Natal. Tourists from all over the world enjoy Sodwana Bay, which is renowned for the mighty marlin, magnificent coral reefs, and scuba diving.  Dolphins and whale sharks are common sights along this coast and if you are a keen underwater photographer you won't get bored. In Sodwana there is a fully stocked bottle store, a supermarket selling all the items you may have left behind at home, and some restaurants for those evenings when you don't feel like cooking.  African arts and crafts are found at the market by the beach, and there is also a souvenir shop where can you buy something memorable to take home.

DESCRIPTION

Dolphin Lodge is privately owned, and the accommodation consists of a fully furnished holiday house, with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a lounge and dining room. The house is a six sleeper and is self-catering. At  Dolphin Lodge, the fully equipped kitchen comes with large refrigerator, freezer, and microwave oven, toaster, pots, pans, dishes and utensils. All you have to bring is your food and drinks, with the lodge being serviced daily. Dolphin Lodge is built around the concept that everyone wants to feel at home, even while on vacation. Sit and enjoy the view of Lake Shazibe and feel the cool coastal breeze as you dine on the outside patio area.

DIRECTIONS

From Johannesburg (6 to 7hrs drive): Take the N12/N4 East until the Ogies off ramp (R545). Go through Ogies and on to the Bethal road (64km). After Bethal follow signs to Ermelo N17 (55km). After Ermelo follow signs to Piet Retief (100km). After Piet Retief, follow signs to Pongola (100km), then follow signs to Mkuzi. Take the Jozini/Northern Maputaland off ramp (55km from Pongola). Its about 20km to Jozini. The road winds up the Ubombo mountains, past Jozini Dam. After Jozini, turn right at the sign to Sodwana - there is 75km of dirt road to Mbazwana. After Mbazwana take the tarred road which is 12km from Sodwana Bay Lodge - look out for the lodge on the left of the road about 5km before the beach.
From Durban, take the N2 north coast.  Pass Richards Bay (117km), and about 100 km further on, take the Hluhluwe off ramp (213 km from Durban).  Go into Hluhluwe and at the T-Junction turn left, then go over a railway line and follow the signs to Sodwana Bay (± 90km).  This road is now tarred all the way and goes through the small town of Mbazwana, which is only 12km from Sodwana Bay.
Note: There is a new tarred road from Hluhluwe, which is about another 30km after the Jozini off ramp. Take the Hluhluwe off ramp, thru Hluhluwe town, past Engen and Wimpy on left. At T-J turn left. Continues for 1km then turn right over the railway and follow sign to Sodwana.
