Mamoli Resort

Ponta
Mamoli is situated in the southernmost region of Mozambique, just 20 kms
from the North Eastern South African border. To reach the resort you
enter through the Kosi Bay Border post and travel +- 25 kms on sand
roads. (4x4 required). Ponta Mamoli is a fully catered up market resort
only, with no camping or self-catering facilities.
The
dive centre at Ponta Mamoli is owned and registered with PADI
and is a 5
Star Gold Palm Resort, with resident instructors Kevin
and Bev Collins with Barry Skinstad the resident skipper.. The dive and water sports
centre is situated a
short walk away from the main public areas of the resort. Upon
arrival, guests are asked to off-load any personal equipment, produce
diving certifications, and complete all paperwork as required. All
equipment is safely stored in the dive center.
The
reefs in Ponta Mamoli have never been subject to diver pressure, so
prevalent in many reefs elsewhere. Divers are not allowed to wear
gloves and are asked not to touch. If any guest is unsure on the
correct weighting required, they are given every opportunity to test
their buoyancy in the swimming pool, before venturing out into the
ocean. Refresher courses are offered.
The
dive sites are numerous. The closest reef is only 500m offshore, with
the furthest being a 12km boat ride. Depths start as shallow as 6m and
descend as deep as 44m. The reefs offer something for everyone, from
wide to macro photographers, from beginners to advanced divers, for
those who study corals and fish to those divers who only wish to
appreciate world-class diving. Fantastic snorkelling is also on offer. |

DESCRIPTION |
There
are 15 private beachfront log-cabin style chalets, all with bathroom
en-suite. Three of the chalets are larger in size than the others, and
can accommodate up to 4 guests, with 2 normal sized beds and a double
bunk. All chalets have ceiling fans, mosquito nets, a small safe, a
basic clothes cupboard and a sea-facing veranda.
All chalets are linked to the central dining area by raised wooden
boardwalks. All meals are served in the dining area, which boasts
magical views over the large swimming pool and bay. Meal times are
normally set, but can change slightly due to events in the resort.
Vegetarians are catered for, but due to the remoteness of the resort,
other catering requests might not be available. Adjacent to the dining
area is a cosy pub, overlooking the bay for beautiful sunrises, and
peering out over the inland grasslands for sunset cocktails. Guests may
take their own beverages into the resort, but may not consume them in
or around the dining, swimming pool or pub areas. Private wines will
be accepted at dinner times for a nominal corkage fee.
Electricity
in the resort is provided by generator. Generator running times are
early mornings, mid-day, and from late afternoon through to mid-night.
Although there are plug points in the chalets, guests are asked to
refrain from using hair-dryers and other heating elements, as these
items put enormous strain onto the generator output levels.
All
the chalets are serviced daily and full linen is provided. Double bed
linen is available on request. Guests only need to take their own beach
towels. |
